Keep safe distance from fake UPSC coaching in Kolkata

India’s toughest examination to select top officers of the country IAS/ IPS/IFS and IRS officers is conducted every year by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The objective of IAS Exam is to get the best brains of the country in the most coveted services of India which is Indian Administrative Services.

To fulfil this dream of becoming an IAS/IPS/IFos/IRS officer an aspirant goes in search of IAS training centres or coaching centres from where they can begin their journey of converting possibilities into reality. For some aspirants IAS is a childhood dream, for others it is a dream which has developed over the years but for everyone it is a dream service.

But here comes the problem of choosing IAS coaching centres in Kolkata. In Kolkata we see Institutes which are specialised in Banking or SSC Exam start IAS Coaching also. They lack the expertise and technical know how to deliver but still they keep experimenting with inexperienced local teachers who are not even competent enough to teach IAS Exam syllabus.

IAS Exam is no more an exam where they ask us about facts, instead the entire exam procedure starting from Prelims and then Mains is of analytical nature. You need to analyse the facts and this is only possible once our concepts are strong and fundamentals are clear.

To achieve this we need IAS faculties who are into teaching for at least 10 to 12 years and who have seen how aspirants from different cities have evolved over the years. This experience which they have gathered over the years by teaching in different places all over India plays an instrumental role in teaching and mentoring students of cities like Kolkata where there are no good institutes exclusively for IAS or UPSC Exam Preparation. In addition to this the already existing ones do not have the capabilities to teach something as prestigious and as demanding as the IAS Exam.

Students and aspirants have to keep a safe distance from such IAS/UPSC coaching in Kolkata and look for the genuine ones.
In addition to this there are some institutions who claim IAS results every year but the most interesting part is that none of those results are from their classroom programme and instead the aspirants are from different cities and states. But the IAS institute claim that those students were part of their Distance Learning Programme.
An institute which has so good a content that they are getting their Distance Learning students crack this exam why isn’t helping their physical coaching students clear their exams? This itself gives us an idea as to on what pretext admissions and enrolment are done in such fake IAS coaching centers in Kolkata and after that student face a tuft time when they really do not know what to do and how to approach the Examination as there are no good faculties or mentors.

‘Time lost cannot be regained’

There is a saying that ‘Time lost cannot be regained’. Time of any aspirant is very crucial and if wasted in wrong place with wrong people not only makes one vulnerable but also he/she gets demotivated to such an extent that they would never again trust any other genuine IAS coaching center also.

Apart from that the amount of money invested if doesn’t give you some good returns in terms of great learning and development creates a lot of mental/psychological pressure on the aspirant. But still we all know that money lost can be earned again but vital time lost cannot be regained again.
A fresh aspirant just out from his graduation college, dreams to become an IAS/IPS officer and with that same hope and belief they get themselves admitted in such fake IAS training centers.

They have lot of energy and determination in the initial days of preparation and it is up to the faculties and mentors to keep them motivated throughout their preparation phase with enough doubt clearing sessions and regular assessment tests. But when things happen contrary to their belief and they do not get what they were promised at the time of admission then there is a great setback for the students where they do not know what to do and whom to approach.

Challenge to crack IAS/UPSC Exam

IAS Preparation in itself is a challenge and a student cannot afford to miss a single day or else they would lag behind other strong candidates which they never want. Amidst all this if they have to even argue or fight with training centres for the lack of service delivery then they are left with no choice but lot of demotivate on the part of the exam.

Plus in this situation if an aspirant takes an attempt and do not qualify even the Prelims of the Exam, then they develop a strong negative attitude for the Exam and in a matter of months even might give up the thought of preparation. This might not be a loss on the part of such training centers who are in a habit of doing this with students year after year but it is a great loss to that individual.

Not only a monetary loss but a great mental setback where he even might go to an extent of thinking that whether he made the right career choice by selecting IAS Exam? Does he has the capability and talent to clear this level of Exam? What went wrong in my preparation? Whom should I get back to and ask where I went wrong?

But he never gets answer to these questions because he made the wrong choice of IAS Training Center, where he didn’t even get a mentor to guide and supervise him throughout his preparation.

Now time has come when students and aspirants should think twice before getting admitted to any such fake IAS trainingcentres. Instead of running after these sold results which is shown to students every year in the name of SUCCESS RATE , students should do the following:

  • Go and attend some "FREE CLASSES" in the center and find for themselves what the coaching got to offer. TOP IAS Faculties from pan India be it Delhi or Hyderabad or Kolkata with tremendous exposure over the years are the ones who are going to drive the students towards their goals and before admission they should be allowed a one to one conversation with them and then decide whether they want to enroll or not.
  • Along with the faculties students should also see to that the IAS training center has mentors also to guide the students. These days students who are graduates or those who are working professionals face a tuft time balancing their jobs and IAS studies and at times they get frustrated seeing the length and breadth of IAS syllabus and start losing energy. This is the time when a role of mentor becomes all the more important. They help the students revitalize their energy, help them understand topics in which they are facing difficulty, keep giving them regular tests, acting as a bridge between faculties and students and most importantly mentors are the ones who know strengths and weaknesses of each and every student and keep working with them on a day to day basis.
  • Lastly before admission one should also have a look of the training center’s exclusive study material to get a clear idea about what they would be supplied once they are admitted in that centre.
If all these 3 parameters are taken into account by aspirants before admission very soon such fake IAS training centers in Kolkata would find it difficult to survive because there are some really good training centers coming up in the city who are providing free classes before admission and plus mentors are also there to guide students.

Such good Institutes with their quality services would also make aspirants believe that it is not necessary to go to Delhi and Hyderabad only to start IAS Exam Preparation. One can stay back in their home town and prepare for the Examination at an affordable cost if they get a genuine team of IAS faculties and mentors in their own city Kolkata.
